For the fifth year of the Red Robin Kids’ Cook-Off, a gourmet burger cooking competition that brings 10 kid-burger-chef national finalists to Denver to compete, Linhart PR was tasked with the challenge of making an already successful event even better.

Court, engage and secure mom bloggers from each of the finalists’ hometown markets to fly to Denver and cover the Cook-Off on their blogs and other social channels. Prior to their arrival in Denver, bloggers were connected with their local finalist family and encouraged to meet at their local Red Robin. Bloggers were given their local kid finalist’s photo, bio and burger recipe before the event, which helped make their posts content-rich. Blogger bios were included in the Cook-Off program and each blogger correspondent was introduced during the event. Blogger details were added to ongoing media outreach in local finalists’ markets, and three bloggers took part in satellite media tour video interviews after the Cook-Off.

The Linhart PR team secured top-choice bloggers from seven markets within two days of starting outreach. Of 500 online mentions throughout the Cook-Off, nearly 50 percent came from our blogger correspondents. The average number of posts per blogger was 28. In a post-event survey, all blogger correspondents said they would work with Red Robin again and hoped to do so in the future. All bloggers rated the event a 4 or above on a 5-point scale, regularly cover Red Robin news and consider themselves Red Robin evangelists.
