I have always known that I wanted to work in public relations. Since my parents were much better at seeing into the future, they encouraged me to start getting experience when I was 17. I was lucky enough to hold several internships – including working on media relations for the Denver Junior Achievement office – to further increase my interest in public relations. I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in May of 2011 with a degree in journalism. I began my college career at Arizona State University where I spent my freshman year, but I consider myself a Buff (short for Buffalo) because Boulder got the best of me. I recently married a very handsome man named Mason during the summer of 2011. I somehow manage to convince him to let me talk constantly about dogs and future vacations – he’s a good man.
What brought you to Denver, Colorado?
I am a native of Colorado and have always wanted to live in the city. I also came to Denver for the career opportunities.
Your workday just started, what’s the FIRST thing you do?
I like to organize myself by putting my lunch away in the Linhart PR Cafe, filling up my water bottle (you’ve got to stay hydrated at this altitude), and getting my phone and ChapStick situated on my desk. And, then I visit with my other intern buddies before we get to work.
Name three things on your desk right now or three things you can’t live without.
GUM(!), a calendar, and my strawberry water bottle. I am chronically dehydrated so the water bottle isn’t always
used, but it’s well-loved.
Name some of your favorite things.
I love running, reading a good book—particularly in a patch of sunshine – piglets, puppies, homemade pizza, breakfast foods, listening to people talk about weddings, getting to wear a new article of clothing for the first time, (which leads to…) shopping, getting things organized, and creating and editing lists of places around the world I want to go.
Tell us a unique or interesting fact about yourself.
My dad has always said that if I were on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” my $1 million question would be: “On what day in history did the Tiananmen Square protests end?” The answer is my birthday, June 4, 1989.
